Cameroon: Disappointment at the CAF Awards as No Clubs Nominated Among Africa's Best

No Cameroonian club has been deemed worthy of being among the nominees for the title of “Best African Club of the Year” at the prestigious CAF Awards. This absence marks a new low point in the history of Cameroonian football.

This exclusion from the nominations is not an accident, but a symptom of a deep decline. While Cameroon prides itself on being a football nation, with five African Cup of Nations to its name, its clubs have been accumulating poor performances on the continental scene for years.

The vertiginous fall of Cameroonian club football

This continental slap should serve as an electroshock for Cameroonian football. The total absence of Cameroonian clubs among the nominees underlines the urgency of a complete overhaul of local football, from club governance to competition management.

The contrast is striking: while the Indomitable Lions continue to shine on the international scene, our clubs are sinking into continental mediocrity. This situation raises crucial questions about player training, the level of the local championship and the administrative management of our clubs.
